Re-classification of Gabapentin from 1st April 2019

From 1st April 2019, amendments to the Misuse of Drugs Regulations 2001 and the Safe Custody Regulations 1973 come into force.  This means that some drugs, which include Gabapentin, have been re-classified as “controlled”.  A “controlled” drug means we are unable to dispense more than one months’ worth of medication at a time.  Written prescriptions are valid for 28 days and only 28 days worth of the drug can be included in that prescription.

Unfortunately, the price will increase to reflect the extra work involved in ordering and dispensing this drug.  Gabapentin will take longer to arrive from our Wholesaler, so please give us at least 3 working days’ notice.

We are sorry for any inconvenience this new classification may cause.
