COVID 19 UPDATE (19.03.20)

We would like to reassure you that during these very difficult and uncertain times, that we will continue to provide you and your animals with the care that is needed.

The following steps have been put into place from now, as we need to change how we work to try and follow the advice to reduce contact between people so as to protect you, our clients and our staff and families as much as we can, while still keeping our pets healthy.

  1. Please phone us, rather than visit, to make appointments, order medication or purchase worm and flea treatments. We would be grateful if you could also pay for these products over the phone, rather than when they are collected, to reduce the time you are in the practice.  We can post most (but not all) medications to you for an additional charge, but it could be that the postal service may also experience ongoing difficulties.  Medication may be bought out to you, if you telephone us to advise you have arrived.

  1. If you need to come into the practice with your pet, then we request that only one person comes inside and other family members wait outside (unless they are children and there is no one else to look after them).

  1. As previously advised, you may wait in your car, in our car park and will be called by a member of our staff directly into the consultation room.

  1. Our wholesaler is putting measures in place to try and ensure veterinary practice deliveries remain unchanged where possible, but please bear in mind in future we may not receive a daily delivery and suggest that if you are in need of a repeat prescription or food for you pet, that you place your order in good time to allow for any possible delay.

Circumstances are changing all the time and we thank you for your cooperation during these challenging times.

IMPORTANT NOTICE – COVID 19 (CORONAVIRUS)

The Windmill Veterinary Centre are updating our safeguards regularly in a bid to protect our vulnerable clients, staff and family members.  We have many internal protocols in place, but also need the help of you, our clients.

  • Any clients that are exhibiting any signs of coronavirus (i.e. a cough, high temperature, shortness of breath) are respectfully asked to avoid entering the practice. Please inform our reception staff by telephone and we will risk assess each situation to ensure your pet is cared for.

  • If you wish to wait in your car rather than in our waiting room, you may do so. On arrival, please either telephone reception who will check you in or inform us in person.

  • Following World Health Organisation guidelines, we would encourage clients to pay by card, rather than cash.

  • For those worried about their pets contracting the virus, the World Health Organisation issued the following statement:                                                              “At present there is no evidence that companion animals can be infected with the new coronavirus.  However, it is always a good idea to wash hands with soap and water after contact with your pets”.  Details can be found on the WHO website-
  • https://www.who.int/emergencies/diseases/novel-coronavirus-2019/advice-for-public/myth-busters

  • We appreciate your understanding during this time. The well being of our patients is still our top priority and by making small changes, we can help ensure that the practice can stay adequately staffed and that our more vulnerable clients are not at risk by visiting the practice.
